ABOUT
-My Story
Roshika “Sunshine” West is the owner, founder and creative director of 20-West Entertainment and Media Co. West is a native of New Orleans, an art mecca and the birthplace of jazz. She connected with the artistic and cultural influences of her hometown as a teen and became a young artist. West’s interests led her to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, Film and Video. While in college, West also became an actress and also taught performing arts to youth. To improve her skills in performance, West participated in acting classes as well as beauty pageants where she learned to speak publicly about the importance of community service. West’s big break in entertainment came when she appeared on the big screen next to Tyler Perry aka Madea in his landmark film: Madea’s Family Reunion, which became the #1 movie in America. At this time West, only 19, gained national recognition when she appeared in the movie and on the cover of the film’s bonus DVD Cover that was sold nationwide. Shortly after the film, West appeared on a national TV show for Nickelodeon.
Later, while in college, West sought to learn more about the behind the scenes operations of media production and gained highly competitive media internships. With a love for creative story telling in mind, a few years after college, West founded her company and popular brand 20-West Entertainment and Media in order to create her own brand of entertainment and media services, utilizing her extensive training.
West loves to create media projects, yet her ultimate goal is to help others succeed through her sharing her creativity in media production and education. With this blog and training site, West hopes to tell stories that educate and inform others on how to gain media internships and jobs, while avoiding common pitfalls of the industry.
Sunshine West’s favorite mantra is, “the best is yet to come”.
